to-BBB is closely collaborating with academic research groups to strengthen the G-Technology^® platform. Furthermore, internally developed products are initially tested for their efficacy by academic research groups or contract research organizations.

University of Padua, Italy

Together with the research group of Professor Maurizio Scarpa, to-BBB is investigating the efficacy of enzyme replacement therapy formulated in glutathione-PEG liposomes for a lysosmal storage disease.

Industrial Technology Research Institute, Taiwan

The Industrial Technology Research Institute of Taiwan (ITRI) is a national research organization that serves to strengthen the technological competitiveness of Taiwan. In addition to its internally developed patent estate, to-BBB signed an exclusive license agreement with ITRI, granting to-BBB the worldwide rights for the development and commercialization of the G-Technology^®. The G-Technology was developed in the Drug Delivery Department of Dr. Maggie Lu at the Biomedical Engineering Research Laboratories in Hsinchu City, and Dr. Lu continues to be a collaboration partner for to-BBB.

VU University Medical Center Amsterdam, the Netherlands

Together with the research group from Dr. Elga de Vries and Dr. Arie Reijerkerk, to-BBB is investigating the efficacy of a brain-targeted treatment of neuroinflammation in an experimental model of multiple sclerosis.

Netherlands Cancer Institute / Antoni van Leeuwenhoek

The research group of Olaf van Tellingen from the Netherlands Cancer Institute - Antoni van Leeuwenhoek Hospital (NKI-AVL) in Amsterdam, collaborates with to-BBB for the development of brain-targeted liposomes with encapsulated anti-cancer drugs.

University of Uppsala, Sweden

The research group of Professor Hammarlund-Udenaes is specialized in brain microdialysis and pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic modeling; a synthetic opioid peptide is chosen as a model drug for this collaboration.

Joanneum Research, Austria

Joanneum Research is specialized in open-flow microperfusion, a novel technique allowing the analysis of the efficacy of drug delivery systems in brain interstitial fluid. With this collaboration to-BBB learns more about the biodistribution of its G-Technology in the brain.

The Michael J Fox Foundation

The Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson's disease research funds to-BBB to conduct preclinical research targeting neuroinflammation in several animal models of Parkinson’s disease, with its second product in development 2B3-201.
